Thanksgiving Inspo

Good morning people! Thanksgiving is days away and I can just smell my plates…emphasis on plates. The holidays are always nice but the one part I dread is trying to see all my family in one day. I'm sooo blessed to have so much family but it's a lot trying to see everyone in one day. So this year I'm not doing that. I'm going to my Grandma's house and my boyfriend’s mom’s house, her food is bomb so that's a must. Anyway I don't know if you're like me but I like to get slightly dressed up for the holidays and I've had some woman ask me what to wear, especially if they're going to their significant others house to meet their family for the first time. So I decided to come up with three outfit inspo sets. Come check back in with me on Thanksgiving to see what I'm wearing to dinner. Happy Turkey Day!

Pair your favorite turtle neck with a mini skirt and loafers to have a clean cool "nerd" type of feel to your look. Add a P.O.P (pop of color, shout out to Donna Goudeau LOL) to brighten up your look and keep your makeup simple.
So if you're like me you know you'll be eating at several house and you’ll need room to fit all that sweet potato pie. So a baby doll dress will be your best bet. It's comfortable and cute and can be dressed up or down easily. Pair it with a pair of Chelsea boots and a hat and you're good to go! Maybe even a dark lip to add some edge.

And if you're not into the dressed up look stay super comfy in a pair of vans and jeans. This look is super chill and comfortable. A trench coat will add some chic class to and defiantly keep you warm.

I hope this gives you ladies some inspo!!!

Thigh Highs x Oversized Sweaters

Good morning people! I hope everyone had a great weekend and got as much rest as they needed. This weekend was a crazy busy! I worked both of my jobs and went out on Friday. Granted it was a great night and I needed it I’m still paying for it LOL! But the lesson of my weekend has been balance and endurance. I voluntarily got a second job to increase my cash flow and I knew it would be hard. But now that I’m doing it I realize how hard it actually is, I mean I am physically and mentally drained. If it wasn’t for coffee idk where I would be right now LOL. I want to go out and have time with my family and friends but I don’t want to spread myself to thin. My sales weren’t that good this weekend at Nord because I was so tired and couldn’t focus. But it’s all about balance. I think I’ll tweak my availability at Nordstrom just to make sure I don’t lose my mind and with the holiday shopping season starting this week I’ll need as much balance as possible. Once I see my paychecks I know it’ll all be worth it though. You either have time or money, and dammit it’s time to get this money!

This look is one of my fav’s for the fall season. I loveeee the shape of the skirt and how the boots complement it. I wanted to keep the color palette dark to have a grungy look. The sweater is one I’ve had for ages and will never get old to me. The deets are below! Have a great day people! Be inspired!
Sweater- H&M
Skirt- H&M

And now I'm starting my Wedding plans.....

So I know you all have seen the stunning pictures of Solange and Alan Ferguson’s wedding that took place this past weekend in New Orleans. But as being a true Solange fanatic I had to post about her amazing ceremony. From the pre wedding festivities to the actual nuptials the wedding looked nothing short of organic and full of the true love the couple shares. The entire wedding party wore white which I thought was brilliant. And it wasn’t done in the corny Kim Kardashian way (no shade) it seemed very natural. She didn’t have bridesmaid dresses and let her wedding party wear what they liked (as long as it was white). All though this is her second marriage and she is clearly not a virgin I loved the purity of the ceremony. Her wedding party included Janelle Monae, Angie (her cousin) Melina Matsoukas, her big sis who appeared to be the maid of honor and a slew of other gorgeous woman.  Solange wore three different looks during her big day and all of them were breath taking. Her first look was a Stephane Rowland jumpsuit that has social media and fashion blogs in frenzy. It was an ivory jumpsuit w/ a cape that she wore riding a white spray painted bike decorated with ivory roses to the actual ceremony at the Marigny Opera House. Her second look was her actually wedding dress which was Kenzo and designed by her good friend Humberto Leon which was a floor length gown with a cape that covered her up to her up to her neck , I loveddd the modesty of it. And the last look was at her wedding reception which was another Stephane Rowland number. It was a gown that draped her body perfectly leaving room to dance and be social with her guest. . The wedding parties’ pictures were inspired by contemporary artist Vanessa Beercroft who I recently got hip to (not going to lie lol). Solange took a bold strong stance to the photo which was one of the factors to me that set her wedding apart from any other I had ever seen.  I also loved the pictures of Solange and Alan. They weren't the traditional groom and bride photos. The couple simply stood next to each other giving the vibe of a “peaceful, strong” union (you catch my drift). When I look at the picture I see a connection between two people something that can’t be broken. Because that's what a wedding is supposed to be. A union of true love. It wasn't about a fancy dress or a thousand guests who they didn't even know. Their ceremony was about them bringing their family's together to share their truest moment together.  Solange said "Everyone I worked with on the wedding are friends who I love, everything was a labor of love” and that was translated effortlessly.

I've always thought about how my wedding would be. I pictured me in a huge white gown and all my family and friends attending...basically a huge traditional wedding. As I get older I'm starting to re-think that. What do all the bells and whistles of a wedding symbolize? What's the point of spending thousands of dollars on a wedding and inviting family you haven't spoken to in years? Just for them to see you kiss your husband and walk down the aisle. I once thought that's what you had to do. But now I know marriage should be done in the truest form of the bride and groom. My boyfriend and I have different views on marriage and that's been an ongoing argument in our relationship. He's not so traditional and doesn't believe a piece of paper (a marriage certificate) is needed to court your mate. Where I have believed that piece of paper is something you need and it's not a "real wedding" without it. But what is a real wedding? It's the bond that two people share and the union they are beginning. The state of Maryland can't govern that. Because when you're truly in love no one else should have a say in it. As long as it's you and your partner standing before God committing physically, emotionally and mentally that's all that matters. I don't want to lose someone who I believe is my true love over a piece paper. So I'll take a note from Solanges book when I get married and do it my way. Not sure what that will look like but it will be authentic of me and my partner. It will be a true love story.

birhgt & bold

So it’s the gloomiest, rainy morning I’ve seen in a while and where am I? At my desk with this stupid headset on taking calls after call. It could be the rain or the fact that it’s another day taking another call from a rude customer but I’m not feeling it. At any rate coffee is imperative today. But I don’t want complaining about my mundane job the mantra today, I’m thankful to have a job for the time being. Any who I had a cool weekend, worked at Nordstrom on Saturday and made some money but I had some crazy mood swings, that usually happens about 2 weeks prior to my period but they were wayyyy crazy this weekend, like I even felt extra crazy so I can imagine what my boyfriend was feeling since he was receiving the brunt of it. When I go through moods like the ones I was in this weekend I find myself needing some serious alone time and space from everything and during that alone time I through myself into something productive, of course that would be the blog.
This morning when I woke up I thought about how much I was missing spring. I miss bright bold prints and light fabric pieces. This Blazer and scarf duo was literally put together put together out me rushing and throwing my clothes around and these to pieces landing near one another. I know it’s a colder season but I don’t see why you still can’t wear bright and bold colors. I f anything I rather wear bright colors in the winter and dark in the hotter seasons, doesn’t make much sense but I dig it. I also wanted to display four cool ways to wear the scarves I stumbled across. I’ve had for years and haven’t worn it since college. Check out each look below and tell me what your favorite is.
Blazer- Thrifted
White Linen top- Forever 21
Jeans- GAP Boyfriend Jeans
Handkerchief Scarf- H&M (got it 7 years ago)
Shoes- Target
Shot by: Alise Curtis (@kreatorstyles IG)
On the lapel- This look is not one I do often but I thought it had a touch of class and grown up edge.

Headscarf- This was a look I’ve worn around the house and quick trips to the mall but never with this scarf. Like I said earlier I forgot I even had it but knew instantly this was a look I wanted to do for this look.

Around the wrist- This is a another obvious way to wear a handkerchief scarf but I over the past couple of months I’ve noticed my favorite fashion blogger Mrs. Leandra Medine of themanrepeller.com wears a scarf around her wrist to add to her trademark “Arm Party”! I thought it was simple and still a bold statement to add to the blazer.

Around the waist- I know this is so circa 2004 but I thought this was a cool thrifty way to wear the scarf. I’m a “curvy” girl so I happy the scarf could fit all the way around my waist. The look is a bit dated but I found some nostalgia in it.
